Google has introduced a new Internet Browser – Google Chrome. The engineers at Google decided that it was time to re-think the web browser from the ground up. What they have come up with is a clean, stable browser that encroaches minimally on what you want to see: the websites you are browsing and working with. Like most of us, Google’s engineers use the web all day long – for communication, banking, shopping, etc. Chrome works very well for our day-to-day tasks and since each new tab or website you open is a separate instance of the program, if one page crashes, you don’t lose all of the other pages – possibly one you had been working on and don’t want to lose. You can try Google Chrome for free - www.google.com/chrome The only downside we have seen is that, for the time being, some sites only support Internet Explorer. The Cape and Islands MLS is one and Quickbooks Online is another. However, I simply use IE for those sites and enjoy Chrome for everything else. It seems faster and allows me to see more of the web at once! Free Antivirus and Antispyware - AVG Free 8.0 Looking for a free Antivirus Suite? We have found that AVG Free works very well – even fixing computers that have one of the more mainstream pay-brands installed and were still infected. Version 8.0 includes Antivirus and Antispyware, allows scheduling, daily virus definition updates and doesn’t seem to bog down old computers the way McAfee or Symantec’s big suites can often do. The Professional version – which you pay for – has a bit more protection, but for a good, basic antivirus and antispyware solution – this one works quite well.
